Memento Mori
For my final project I explored the relationship between death and photography, taking a philosophical approach. I decided to create a virtual book so that it will one day serve as a photographic cemetery, once all the photographed places have fully disappeared.
I used a range of theorists as inspiration to shape the direction of my work. I have incorporated quotes from these theorists into the book to reinforce my concept.
The battle between life and death within the photograph was interesting to explore. The photograph is a space and time, frozen, preserving what once was, yet acts as a constant reminder that everything eventually dies.
